Let's make movies, y'all
Filmmaking has come to Georgia in a big way. We’ve got the locations, the talent, and the tax credits to make the biggest, most creative, innovative film productions in the world.

Credit where Tax Credit's due
In 2008, the government folks did some smart governing and passed a 30% tax credit for productions shot in Georgia, and since then the film industry has really taken off! That’s a bit of an understatement, actually. Georgia went from being one of the film locations in the world to being the #1 film location in the world.

Jobs, jobs, jobs (And more jobs)
It takes a lot of people doing a lot of jobs to make films. Actors, directors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, hair dressers, makeup... makeupateers. And all of those actors, electricians and makeupateers are contributing to the local economy, using local services, patronizing local stores, buying local goods. All of that economic activity, in turn, creates more jobs. It’s like a giant job snowball getting bigger and bigger.

Film Studies
Workers for film productions don’t just grow on dogwood trees. You have to make them. That’s what happens at the Georgia Film Academy. People learn everything from set construction to lighting to production accounting to makeupateering. If it happens on a film set, it’s taught at the Georgia Film Academy. Some folk learn skills to break into the biz. Others go to add new skills so they can reach for better jobs on set.

It's nice to live in GA
With a relatively low cost of living, an international airport with direct flights everywhere in the world, amazing parks, incredible restaurants, lakes, beaches, mountains and a diverse, welcoming population, life in Georgia has just about everything that just about anyone could ask for.
Georgia is every location
You need New York. Georgia can do that! The Louisiana Bayou? Yep. The French Riviera? Encino Hills, California? The West Texas Plains? Check, check and check. Any location imaginable Georgia can do and has done thanks to the diverse topography from mountains to coasts to big city skylines. And if you need a location that literally doesn’t exist, we’ll just build it on a soundstage. We have over 1.1 million square feet of purpose built soundstages, and 1.2 million square feet of retrofitted soundstage space. And there’s more on the way.

(So) Many films were shot in Georgia
What movies and TV shows were filmed in Georgia? Too many to list. But lots and lots of your favorites, that’s for sure. That includes movies shot in Georgia including big blockbusters with huge budgets shot on soundstages, Oscar-bait, historical dramas shot on locations, independent films, popular TV shows, animated features and every other film and TV genre out there.

The other film industry
You know Georgia’s film industry has gotten big when it’s sprouted its own tourism industry. There are tours of famous film locations, conventions featuring actors and filmmakers, and film festivals of films shot in Georgia (pretty much all the films).
