Inaugural Georgia AgTech Summit a Success

AgTech Summit Panel

On March 2, 2022 the Georgia Center of Innovation and the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) co-hosted the inaugural Georgia AgTech Summit in Tifton. The Summit was created to fill a growing need for more interaction and collaboration among the players in the Georgia AgTech space.

The goal was to bring together industry, academia, and government to discuss the current state of the AgTech industry in Georgia and help plan for the future.

Over 100 people participated in person at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center, hearing presentations from faculty representing the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, and Kennesaw State University. Industry participants ranged from AgTech venture capital investors, local agribusinesses, and Fortune 500 companies.

Participants also listened to company pitches from five startup companies in GRA’s Greater Yield Initiative program. These startup companies represented new products ranging from robots that assist with sorting vegetables to a new behavioral monitoring analytic service for poultry growers.

Overall, there was lots of excitement during the Summit about the current state of AgTech in Georgia. Many new connections were made between industry and academic partners.
