Maintaining Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Success in Georgia

Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) — also known as maintenance, repair and overhaul — is the process of restoring aerospace items to like-new condition. Overhaul refers to predictive or preventative maintenance used to ensure an aircraft’s continued airworthiness. In 2022, the Aeronautical Repair Station Association ranked Georgia no. 10 in the country for MRO, with 22,600 employees in the industry between both military and civilian operations.

In 2022, MHIRJ expanded its MRO network with a new facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon. TechOps, the MRO branch of Delta Air Lines, operates out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport — one of the busiest airports in the world. And the U.S. Air Force Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex is one of the largest military depots in the country.

The Center of Innovation can assist MRO companies with the following:

  • Acting as a go-to resource for information on issues and trends that support the state's MRO industry
  • Serving as the connection point between businesses, the government and academia in order to increase industry innovation
