Chief Financial Officer
John Moffatt was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of the Georgia Department of Economic Development in January 2007. As CFO, Mr. Moffatt is accountable for the financial, administrative, and risk management operations of the agency, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve and allocate agency funds and report accurate financial results.
Mr. Moffatt joined GDEcD as the Accounting Manager in 1999. Prior to that, he worked for the Georgia Department of Labor in the Accounting and Finance Division. In that position, he managed the Accounts Payable, Cash Management and Bank Reconciliation Divisions for the agency.
Prior to moving to Georgia, Mr. Moffatt lived in New Jersey and worked as an Assistant Vice President with Bank of New York. In this capacity he oversaw the Financial Services Division which included ACH processing, corresponding banking, escrow accounting and bank reconciliation.
Mr. Moffatt moved to Georgia in 1991, he holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and marketing from Seton Hall University and also holds a master's degree in finance from Kennesaw State University. Mr. Moffatt is also a licensed CPA in the State of Georgia. He and his wife Annette have two sons and reside in Marietta.
