EDUCATION
With various career pathways related to aerospace, Georgia’s education system is a key component for workforce readiness. Georgia Tech’s aerospace engineering program is ranked No. 1 among public universities in the U.S., tied with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). Meanwhile, Kennesaw State University is expanding its aerospace offerings by converting its aerospace engineering minor into a full major, responding to the growing demand for skilled professionals in the aerospace industry.
Middle Georgia State University (MGSU) plays a vital role in the region’s aerospace workforce development through its FAA-certified aviation programs. MGSU’s strong partnerships with local aerospace companies and Robins Air Force Base help build a skilled labor pool of over 5,000 professionals in Macon-Bibb County, ensuring that the region remains a key hub for aviation and aerospace innovation.
In 2022, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed into law the Technical College System of Georgia’s High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP). This program aims to upskill Georgians and increase the pool of skilled talent in high-demand industries, with a particular focus on aviation, aeronautics, and astronautics. Since its inception, more than 10 career paths within these fields have been designated as HDAP-eligible, providing greater opportunities for individuals to pursue careers in these critical industries.

By providing targeted education and hands-on experience, the facility helps build a highly skilled workforce to meet the demands of Georgia's growing aerospace sector.

This strong military presence contributes to Georgia’s robust defense and aerospace industries, providing numerous opportunities for veterans to transition into the civilian workforce.
