Construction Manager Finds New Career in Film
After the recession of 2008, Luke Welden was searching for work after his family’s construction business slowed down. He found an opportunity in the film industry as a location manager for an independent film. Luke thrived on check-lists (a necessity in film production), and it wasn’t too long before he was working with larger productions, including “Stranger Things.” As a former small business owner himself, Luke tries to utilize his local community. “I’m a Georgia guy so I try to use local vendors for trash, trailers, HVAC, tenting, lighting, and security. It touches my community, so I want to keep the money in Georgia...I sleep better at night knowing I can help other Georgians.”
