Filming in Tifton Impacts Local Economy

Movie stars such as Bruce Willis and Luke Wilson have been seen around Tifton, but the excitement around filming in this community extends far beyond celebrity sightings. The economic impact to Georgia’s “Friendly City” has been enormous, according to Mayor Julie Smith. These visitors have been “dining in local restaurants, shopping in local stores and staying in local hotels.” Tifton’s economic development directory echoes this sentiment as she points to the crew of “Gasoline Alley” and other productions spending money in downtown small businesses. “They’ve shopped, dined, utilized a local caterer, and rentend buildings for sets, and we want to celebrate those dollars coming into our local economy.” Students at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College have even gotten the opportunity to be extras in many of the productions filmed in Tifton.
