"It Looks Like the City was Alive!” Waycross Welcomes Movie Crew to Town
The major motion picture, “Wash Me in the River,” began filming in Waycross, and the whole town got in on the action. The charm of the southern Georgian town attracted the film’s producers for the film starring Robert De Niro and John Malkovich. Many local residents were cast as extras, and businesses benefited from the filming too. Salon owner Jamie McQuiag noted the impact on the local economy: “From rental companies to dry cleaning, all the hotels are full, restaurants are booming. It looks like the city is just alive. Everyone fell together because the whole town has just just helped out so much.”
