Israel - Georgia Collaborative Industry Innovation Program Applications Now Open
An exciting opportunity is available for innovative companies who are looking to collaborate between Georgia and Israel. The state of Georgia and the Israel Innovation Authority recently signed an MOU focused on the identification of specific projects, partnerships and collaborations between entities from each region in hopes of leading to cooperation in innovation. Applications are open now to companies with projects that qualify. The Southern Company has stepped forward to sponsor the first set of projects that will connect the Southern Company and Israeli companies with innovative technologies in designated areas of interest. The main objective is to stimulate the generation and development of new or significantly improved products or processes for commercialization in global markets. The focus will be on the following technology domains:
- Vehicle Automation, Electrification, Safety Systems and related areas
- Advanced Materials
- Sustainable Energy / Water / Agriculture Systems
- Public Safety / Homeland Security
- Smart Home / Energy Efficiency / Aging in Place
- Data collection and analytics
- Systems to improve utility operations and maintenance
- Distributed energy resource management
- Marketing and customer relations systems
- Other technology domains with high impact beyond the areas specified above.
In the U.S., the Georgia Centers of Innovation will collect, screen, and assist the Southern Company and the Israel Innovation Authority in the review of the applications. After this screening, both the Southern Company and the Israel Innovation Authority will embark on direct negotiations with the selected applicants on the specifics of the project. For this phase, it is encouraged that potential Israeli participating companies connect with the Southern Company to discuss a possible collaboration before submitting an application. As other Georgia companies step forward with interest in sponsoring joint projects, the Center of Innovation will work with them and the Israel Innovation Authority on specific requirements for those potential projects.
