Barbour Corporation Chooses Metro AtlantaFor New Manufacturing Plant
ATLANTA, Aug. 24, 2006 – Barbour Corporation has chosen metro Atlanta for its subsidiary, Barbour Plastics, Inc., to begin its new plastics operation. Barbour Plastics, Inc. will begin distribution operations in October and manufacturing in November in South Fulton County, Atlanta. 'Barbour Plastics is a major supplier of extruded moldings and other components for the marine industry, which is now largely located in the southeast. This location will allow us to get closer to our customers and as a result serve them better,' said Richard Hynes, president and CEO of Barbour Corporation. 'Atlanta also is a perfect logistical center for distribution of our products throughout the United States.' Barbour Corporation is a group of companies that are involved in the manufacture, sale and distribution of products for various commercial and industrial applications. The headquarters are located in Brockton, Mass., about 25 miles south of Boston. Barbour Corporation is a privately owned family business. "We have worked hard to make sure that Atlanta and Georgia are known for their logistics advantages," said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Craig Lesser. "Tapping into our world class logistics network allows a company like Barbour Corporation to access customers and markets efficiently and effectively." We're close to their clients across the Southeast, and our international airport gives them access to their customers worldwide.' Atlanta is the third hottest city in the nation for businesses to expand and relocate, according to a 2006 ranking by top site-selection magazine Expansion Management. On the 2006 'Hottest Cities' list, Atlanta bested cities such as Dallas, San Antonio, Charlotte and Memphis. Nashville and Phoenix ranked first and second.
