Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics Fuels Solutions for Cleaner Emissions
ATLANTA, October 21, 2010–The Georgia Center of Innovation (COI) for Logistics recently used its strength as the state's leading logistics resource to connect a local start-up energy company with a major terminal operator at the Port of Savannah to test its 'fuel treatment' designed to make significant advances in fuel efficiency. EnAid Energy, LLC, a new Georgia-based, woman-owned business, recently completed a field study of solutions in Savannah designed for companies seeking to lower emissions, increase fuel efficiency and help everyone breathe cleaner air. To make this happen the COI for Logistics connected EnAid Energy with Peeples Industries, one of the Port of Savannah's major bulk commodity terminal operators, to field test EnAid's fuel efficiency solutions for diesel fuel. The heavy equipment needed to operate such a terminal, coupled with the company's innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, made Peeples Industries an ideal match for testing and piloting EnAid Energy's diesel fuel treatment. "At a time when environmental and economic concerns are at the forefront of Georgia's focus, we're committed to forging new partnerships that drive progress in improving air quality by reducing exhaust emissions, as well as reducing fuel consumption," said Page Siplon, Executive Director of the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics. 'At the same time, we're excited about innovation that is Georgia-grown, Georgia-managed, and led by Georgia-based businesses.' Peeples Industries conducted 172 hours of field testing and evaluation of the fuel treatment's effect on performace and emissions. The result was a 15 percent or better improvement in fuel efficiency using EnAid™ Formula 3-14 for diesel fuel. 'When we were asked to participate in this pilot, I wanted to be sure that there was a positive effect on the bottom line,' said Frank Peeples, Jr., CEO of Peeples Industries, Inc. 'Our company uses approximately 60,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year, and based on the results of our pilot, this means we could conserve more than 9,000 gallons every year. That's a really positive impact on our bottom line and the environment. We are now excited to see what impact EnAid's treatments will have when deployed more widely across our equipment.' 'Our customers are looking for quality products that offer effective alternatives to costly retrofits in both a tight economy and for the long-term,' said Diane Gray, president of EnAid Energy, LLC. 'Going green makes sense when businesses can save money and clean up the air in their communities at the same time.'
