Georgia state logo ATLANTA, September 30, 2014 – The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) and Asama Coldwater Manufacturing, Inc. (ACM), leader in high-quality brake component manufacturing for the automotive industry, announced today that ACM will expand in Warrenton, creating 40 jobs at a new machining and painting facility. 'Georgia's competitive business climate continues to support the thriving automotive manufacturing industry,' said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. 'Forward-looking companies such as Asama Coldwater Manufacturing are finding it easy to grow in our state due to a qualified labor pool and other pro-business resources.' The new 80,000-square-foot facility in Warrenton will be located adjacent to the 203,000-square-foot Foundry currently operated by ACM. The newly created jobs will specialize in robotics, CNC machining and precision inspection as well as other manufacturing and machinery operations. The company will utilize Georgia Quick Start, a top-ranked workforce training program, to train new employees. 'We are excited to begin the next phase of manufacturing in Georgia,' said Tim Arey, senior manager, Asama Coldwater Manufacturing, LLC. 'We feel this site has very good potential for our future growth because of its capabilities, location and proximity to the Honda Alabama plant. We feel fortunate for this new opportunity and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the state of Georgia, Warren County, and the city and people of Warrenton.' While ACM plans to maintain current production in the Coldwater Michigan facility, the company's newest expansion will increase ACM's presence in Georgia and broaden its customer base in the Southern United States, providing an increased capacity and value to support future customer requirements. The Warrenton facility was purchased by ACM in March of 2013. ACM has invested heavily in the Georgia facility in preparation for the Machining and Painting expansion. Adela Kelly, GDEcD regional project manager, assisted the company on behalf of the state of Georgia, along with OB McCorkle of the Development Authority of Warren County. 'This is a very exciting time for Warren County. This particular facility has changed ownership many times. A significant expansion by ACM is extremely positive from the community's point of view,' said OB McCorkle, executive director, Development Authority of Warren County. 'It is encouraging to see a company that acquired the facility less than two years ago already expanding and growing. ACM is a great corporate citizen and we hope they continue to prosper and expand in Georgia in the future.'
