Marie Hodge Gordon is Executive Director of Communications for the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), the state’s key entity responsible for fostering economic development across diverse sectors including major industrial projects, small businesses, tourism, international trade, film and digital entertainment, and the arts. The Department also serves as the official liaison to the Georgia-based Consular Corps.
In her prior role as Communications Director at GDEcD for three years, Marie advanced internal and external communications and public relations goals for the Department with local, state, and global partners in the public and private sectors. These included historic automotive manufacturer announcements from Hyundai Motor Group and Rivian.
When joining GDEcD in 2020, Marie brought over 15 years of experience in federal government and campaign communications roles for U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson as well as communication strategy and delivery for other elected state and local officials. A proficient writer, Marie has also contributed to newspapers, business, and lifestyle publications.
Marie holds an English degree with a minor in Mass Communications from the University of Georgia. She is a graduate of Leadership Georgia Class of 2019 and is an active alumna of Darlington School in Rome, Georgia. Marie resides in Marietta with her husband Michael, two children, and their beloved miniature dachshund.
