With the growth of other emerging crops such as olives, ginger, stevia, and pomegranates, Georgia has the potential for accessing new markets for growers which will contribute to  more value  added processing  for food manufacturing .

How the Center of Innovation for Agribusiness Helps Business

  • The Center works closely with industry researchers in identifying the needs on non-traditional production methods to further understand the unique services, products, and requirements that can make these crops viable and sustainable.
  • Work with the International Trade division to introduce these emerging crops to new and existing international markets.

When Australian native Ross Harding decided to start a ginger farm just outside Savannah, he immediately faced a few issues including what types of ginger would grow in the region's sandy soil. That first conversation has led to the creation of more than 30 ginger-based products that can be found in more than 200 stores nationwide.
