Georgia Small Businesses Recognized by NASBITE International
Last week, two of our International Trade division’s longtime partners in the State of Georgia were honored by NASBITE International, a not-for-profit membership organization that leads in providing support and education in the field of global business. Headquartered in Macon, KaMin was recognized for improving both pricing and profitability in global markets. Located in Peachtree City, Aventure Aviation was honored for their ability to overcome exporter challenges.
KaMin is a performance minerals company with over 90 years of experience in mining and manufacturing. Committed to becoming a global leader in performance minerals that enable innovative product solutions for everyday life, KaMin currently exports to more than 60 countries. In 2019 alone, KaMin exported over a half-million tons of minerals from its three plants. KaMin’s plants are located in Macon, Sandersville and Wrens, Georgia, and employ more than 400 Georgians.
Aventure Aviation, a leading aviation parts supplier, is a minority-owned small business celebrating its 20th year in existence. The company specializes in buying retired commercial aircraft and refurbishing its select parts to sell to customers from all over the world. Occupying a niche market, Aventure Aviation’s 1,500-plus customers are located in more than 40 countries. The small business also provides job opportunities to more than 30 Georgia residents. In 2019, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) had the honor of presenting Aventure Aviation with a GLOBE Award.
Every year, NASBITE International hosts its Annual Conference & National Business Exporter Summit. This year, the 2020 conference was scheduled to take place in Annapolis, Maryland. Quickly adapting to the evolving circumstances, NASBITE was able to shift the conference and summit to a completely virtual format.
The International Trade division at GDEcD provides Georgia exporters with strategic export counseling, specifically tailored to the company’s needs and objectives. Working with the state’s international representatives located in 12 markets across the world, GDEcD’s trade team offers companies the global insight and connections they need to achieve international success.
It has been a pleasure for our Trade team to help both of these Georgia small businesses grow their global footprint. The successes of KaMin and Aventure Aviation further exemplify the strong impact and growth opportunities that expanding into global markets can mean for a business.
