Logistics Warehouse Workshop

Logistics Center Showcases Warehouse Technology in Savannah

The future of supply chain is here, and last week it showed itself in Savannah. While the northern parts of the state were bracing for an epic snowstorm that never materialized, the Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics was holding their first ever Warehouse/DC Technology workshop. The team hosted 60 attendees and 4 speakers from emerging logistics technology firms to give demonstrations of today’s technologies.

Companies included in the day’s technology presentations were Cognosos, RoadSync, ROR, and StaffWRX. Cognosos CEO Steve Robb demonstrated their ability to track assets throughout an entire process such as manufacturing or autoprocessing. With the ability to track assets in real time, a manufacturer and shipper will have the ability to say with certainty where in the process they are at all times, allowing for more certainty throughout the entire process.

RoadSync and ROR both exhibited automation processes: RoadSync being concentrated on financial transactions within warehousing and distribution center operations and ROR providing an automated system for tracking maintenance and safety requirements related to a company’s fleet of material handling equipment. In both cases, arduous manual processes now have the ability to be automated, expediting the process and allowing logistics service providers more opportunity to move goods in a faster and more efficient manner.

Last on the docket was StaffWRX who demonstrated their mobile-based temporary workforce platform, which provides a means for better relationship and communication between employers and employees. StaffWRX technology has the ability to improve time tracking processes, as well as employee productivity by removing the middle-man relationship.

This was the Center of Innovation for Logistics first attempt to gather a local industry and showcase the technologies that could improve their operational efficiencies, but it likely won’t be their last – as technologies continue to hit the market which promise to improve a company’s competitiveness here in Georgia.
