GDEcD Internship Program
Hands-On Experience at GDEcD
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Internship Program gives students and recent graduates hands-on experience working with professionals who promote Georgia’s economy, tourism, and creative industries. Interns gain real-world exposure to research, marketing, communications, and event planning while building valuable professional connections. Internships are unpaid, with academic credit available when required, and are designed for learning and career exploration.
Intern Criteria
To be eligible to participate in the GDEcD Intern Program, undergraduate or graduate-level students (and recent graduates, through one quarter or semester following graduation) must meet the following:
- Complete a minimum of one year of higher education (two semesters or three quarters); internship must begin no later than the quarter or semester immediately following completion.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Resident of Georgia or attend a Georgia institution of higher learning.
- Interns must agree to the terms and conditions specified by GDEcD.
- Interns seeking academic credit must provide program requirements no later than at the time an internship is accepted.
- Interns must be able to commit to a regular schedule (20 – 40 hours per week) for a period of 2 to 8 months. Specific terms will be discussed and agreed upon in advance by the intern and his/her assigned supervisor.
- Parking expenses will be reimbursed, but no additional personal expenses (housing, food, mass transit, etc.) are reimbursed.

- Dates of availability for internship including times (minimum two months, maximum of eight months).
- Academic credit requirements for your institution, if any.
