Georgia Manufacturing Insight & Expertise
The Georgia Center of Innovation works with Georgia manufacturers of all sizes, from entrepreneurs to large Fortune 500 companies, to address business challenges and opportunities and to innovate products, improve processes, and focus on workforce development. Our team is made up of manufacturing problem solvers dedicated to assisting businesses. Much of the Center’s assistance to manufacturers fall within three main categories: product development, process improvement, and workforce development solutions.
Our Services
- Provide technical expertise to assess manufacturing challenges and identify potential solutions.
- Recommend resources in the state, including companies, academic researchers, government agencies and programs, etc. that can meet company needs (including startup accelerator programs, prototyping shops, contract manufacturers, workforce development programs, tax incentives, international trade, and many others).
- Facilitate collaborations and partnerships with the appropriate set of resources so that the company can overcome its challenge.
In addition to working with individual manufacturers, the Center also works in strategic partnerships with companies, academia, and government to strengthen Georgia’s manufacturing ecosystem to support the future growth of the industry. As one example the Center is currently working with Georgia’s recently announced Electric Mobility Innovation Alliance (EMIA) to provide key information on what uniquely positions Georgia to be a leader in Electric Vehicle components manufacturing.
Georgia’s manufacturing industry accounts for 10% of the state’s GDP, 92 percent of its exports, and employs more than 380,000 with well-known companies like Kia Motors, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Caterpillar calling the state home.

Product Development
It doesn’t matter if you are a start-up, well-established company or a business somewhere in between. We provide technical and business development advice at all stages of product development from conceptualization to full-scale production, including research and development, prototyping, design, and manufacturing.
At the heart of our approach is gaining an in-depth understanding of each company’s needs and then matching those needs with the wealth of resources around the state such as researchers at Georgia's top universities, accelerator programs, product designers, machine shops, contract manufacturers and many more. We assist companies in making the right connections to take products from concept to commercialization.

Process Improvement
A key to modern manufacturing and growth is achieving optimal efficiency, and the Center assists Georgia businesses in analyzing existing manufacturing processes to identify potential improvements. With access to world-renowned faculty and top-notch students at universities around the state, the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute, the Global Center of Medical Innovation, and many other leading organizations, we connect companies to people who can help improve any type of manufacturing process.
