Berdolé Flamenco with Julie Galle
Julie Galle, known as “Julie Moon,” is a teaching artist who has been delivering programs in schools for more than 20 years. She has presented her methodology at the University of Malaga in Spain, published research in flamenco and school programming in scholarly volumes. Julie has a B.A. in communication and a M.A. in Spanish. She studied flamenco dance and history in Spain and continues to travel to the country to conduct original research into the art form. She has received continuous training as a teaching artist since 2006 via Young Audiences, the University of Tennessee, and Lincoln Center. Julie speaks Spanish and English and can be found on stage performing flamenco in metro Atlanta and on the road across the country.
- Arts integration – Julie blends general dance movement with non-arts curriculum topics for K-12 classrooms.
- STEAM-Ready – Julie employs the engineering design process in dance and problem-solving and enjoys turning science and math topics into movement
- Flamenco arts – With her specialty in flamenco arts, she connects the movements, rhythms, and history of that exciting Spanish art form with mathematics, literacy, and social studies. Her flamenco program Ferdinand por farruca has been on tour since 2009.
- 21st-Century skills – Using improvisational games and the theory of flamenco arts, Julie’s dances incorporate teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
- Master teacher – Julie delivers master classes of flamenco dance and rhythm to students who will benefit from art for art’s sake.

GCA STEAM Certified
The GCA STEAM-Ready Designation is a partnership with Georgia Department of Education that launched the first-ever Teaching Artist STEAM Ready Designation training course, preparing teaching artists, arts providers, and community partners with high-quality STEAM training and a new designation through the Georgia Council for the Arts. This training took place in 2024, and the designation is valid through 2027.
