Experience the enchanting art of shadow puppetry!  Mr. Damon captivates audiences with interactive performances and workshops that integrate theater, storytelling, science, and creativity.

Recently awarded a Jim Henson Foundation Grant for the development of contemporary puppet theater, Damon’s professional portfolio also includes shadow puppetry for Marvel’s Hawkeye on Disney+, as well as being a regular guest performer at Dragon Con.

As the Lead Teaching Artist at the Center for Puppetry Arts and the creator of Mr. Damon’s Shadow Puppets, he offers vibrant programs in schools, libraries, and theaters. Damon has designed specialized shadow puppet initiatives for educational institutions across Georgia and has toured extensively in the Southeast, promoting themes of reading, creativity, and collaboration. 

Damon’s programs combine STEAM and arts integration with hands-on discovery, inviting participants of all ages to explore storytelling, culture, and STEM concepts in engaging and accessible ways.

  • Traveling the Silk Road with Puppetry of Asia – Explore puppetry traditions from China, India, Japan, and beyond while connecting culture, history, and storytelling.
  • The Light of Leonardo – Discover simple machines and the science of light through creative exploration inspired by Leonardo da Vinci.
  • Shadow Puppet Magic – Experience the art and science of shadow puppetry. Collaborate to create and perform an original group production.

Georgia Council for the Arts STEAM Designated Teacher 2024-2027 logo

The GCA STEAM-Ready Designation is a partnership with Georgia Department of Education that launched the first-ever Teaching Artist STEAM Ready Designation training course, preparing teaching artists, arts providers, and community partners with high-quality STEAM training and a new designation through the Georgia Council for the Arts. This training took place in 2024, and the designation is valid through 2027.
