*EDUCATIONAL LECTURE-DEMONSTRATION (arts-in-education assembly program) is a visual feast of colorful Chinese ribbons, fans, handkerchiefs, swords, and more, featuring live, costumed traditional Chinese dance performances interspersed with detailed historical and cultural background information as well as audience participation. It is a fun and memorable way to experience not only the beauty and splendor of the art of Chinese dance, but also China’s long history of over 5,000 years and diverse culture with 56 ethnic groups.

*WORKSHOPS/RESIDENCIES (in-studio dance instruction) explore the basics of Chinese dance. Curriculum can be designed to focus on a particular style (such as ribbon dance, kung fu fan dance, etc.) or to provide a taste of a variety of different Chinese dance styles. The difficulty level can be tailored for absolute beginners to professional dancers. If desired, a series of workshops can be taught over an extended period culminating in a performance showcase. We can set existing Atlanta Chinese Dance Company repertory or create new work.

Since 2010 Kerry and Hwee-Eng have presented hundreds of lecture-demonstrations and workshops/residencies for toddlers, K-12 schools, colleges/universities, adults, and seniors in Georgia, California, Virginia, and South Carolina. While Chinese dance may be unfamiliar to most, the Lees love to witness people of diverse backgrounds light up in wonder as they experience the beauty of the art form for the first time. Chinese dance also serves as a portal to Chinese and Chinese American history and culture which are rarely taught in Georgia schools.
