Georgia Institute of Technology’s (Georgia Tech) Financial Service Innovation Lab acts as a platform to connect faculty and students with the financial services industry and fintech professionals. Its vision is to become a hub for finances education, research, and industry in the Southeast.

Georgia State University’s FinTech Lab is one of the first university fintech labs in the country. The lab provides an applied, experiential environment in which students, faculty, and corporate partners can experiment with technologies transforming financial services, insurance, and real estate.

To ensure the region has a strong pipeline of fintech talent, the Georgia FinTech Academy, a collaboration between the region’s fintech industry and the 26 public institutions of the University System of Georgia, was created in 2019. The Academy is the first of its kind in the nation and allows students to access specialized educational experiences in banking, information security, data analytics, financial technologies, and payments.

An online talent development platform allows learners to access the specialized educational experiences necessary to enter the fintech sector regardless of where they live in the state or college in which they enroll. The academy has a physical hub at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business in Atlanta.

Two of the country’s largest fiber routes (North/South and East/West) intersect in metro Atlanta, along with major research lines Internet2 and the National LambdaRail (NLR). Every major international and North American fiber provider possesses a core interconnection point in Atlanta.

Georgia is ranked 5th in the nation for internet access by U.S. News & World Report, 2021. Georgia was the 1st state in the U.S. to precisely map the availability of broadband services and identify areas that need accessibility.

The Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest and most efficient in the world, offers direct flights to over 150 U.S. cities and 50 countries.

Georgia’s utility companies supply low-cost, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy for the state’s business and residents.
