About Northeast Georgia
The 13 counties of Northeast Georgia (Region 2) are a hub for business and outdoor life. More than 276,400 Georgians are employed in key sectors such as manufacturing, construction, retail/wholesale trade, education, and tourism in the region. The region is home to companies such as Fieldale Farms, NE Georgia Health System, Haring Precision, and Diana Food.
Expected to open in 2026, the Blue Ridge Connector, in Hall County, will be an inland port that will provide direct rail access between the Port of Savannah and Northeast Georgia. Region 2 offers some of the state’s most iconic views: Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest peak; Amicalola Falls, the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast; Dahlonega, site of America’s first major gold rush and heart of Georgia Wine Country; and Gibbs Gardens, one of the nation’s largest residential estate gardens.
