About West Georgia
West Georgia is shaped by leadership, service, and industry. In Columbus, Fort Benning supports a major military and veteran workforce, while Aflac anchors the region’s insurance sector. Pratt & Whitney advances aerospace manufacturing, while logistics, distribution, and other industries support the region’s growth.
Presidential history lives on in Warm Springs, where Franklin D. Roosevelt found refuge at the Little White House. Providence Canyon State Park – known as Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon” – offers hiking trails and primitive backcountry camping. The region is also home to Callaway Resort Gardens in Pine Mountain, known for seasonal blooms and scenic biking trails.
“Over the past four decades and with the support of the Columbus community, state, and Governor, Pratt & Whitney’s presence in Georgia has grown from a small manufacturing facility to a state-of-the-art manufacturing and overhaul center, employing 2,600 dedicated people focused on our mission: to connect and protect our world.”
