Supporting Georgia's Arts Industry Since 1968

About Georgia Council for the Arts

The mission of Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) is to cultivate the growth of vibrant, thriving Georgia communities through the arts. GCA grants and programs are funded by allocations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Connecting The Arts to Opportunity

As part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) provides grant funding, arts education programs, and resources statewide that support the state’s arts industry, preserve cultural heritage, and increase access to the arts.

Arts and creativity are a key driver of economic development. From attracting visitors to revitalizing historic downtowns to supporting small businesses, the arts help create places where people want to live and businesses want to locate. At the center of this work are Georgia’s artists and organizations who are shaping community identity and contributing to a strong, a vibrant economy that benefits every Georgian.

Our strong focus on collaboration means working directly with communities to strengthen their awareness of arts resources and local organizations providing arts programming and services.

What we do:

  • Invest in communities through grants and arts education programs.
  • Connect the arts to local development efforts in rural and urban areas.
  • Strengthen partnerships between nonprofits, artists, and local governments.
  • Share tools and insights including research and best practices.
